The Initiative for Cardiovascular Health Research in Developing Countries (IC-HEALTH) was founded in 1999 by World Health Organization (WHO) and Global Forum for Health Research to develop the cardiovascular research capacity in developing countries through the creation of a global network of researchers. The operating secretariat for IC-HEALTH is the Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC), located in New Delhi, India.

IC-HEALTH is governed by a Foundation Board, which is comprised of representatives from the partnership organizations, as well as other outstanding individuals within global cardiovascular disease research.

The board is chaired by Prof. K. Srinath Reddy, president of the Public Health Foundation of India, with Prof. Jean Claude Mbanya, professor of medicine from the University of Yaounde (Cameroon) serving as the vice-chair.

An executive committee drawn from the foundation board provides regular oversight to the programmes and activities of IC-HEALTH. In addition, an international scientific advisory committee provides expert scientific review and guidance to IC-HEALTH.

The CCDC, headed by Dr. Dr. Prabhakaran, serves as the secretariat for IC-HEALTH and provides technical and administrative assistance to help plan, coordinate, monitor, evaluation, and manage research programmes.
