Health Promotional Activities

Conceived and designed the website www.foodpyramidindia.org which provides a pictorial dietary guide for healthy living to the general adult Indian public with a dynamic interactive calorie-calculator, region-specific dietary food-guides, sample menus, food alerts a section on food hygiene and safety to prevent food and water borne diseases and cancers.

Involved in designing another website for India www.healthyindia.org.in which includes amongst many other sections, prevention of tobacco, increase in physical activity which prevent disease, healthy diet, traditional practices of India applicable to the community, worksites and school children.

Multi-Sectoral and Multi-Disciplinary National Consultation on implementation of WHO’s Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health, 2005 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and the World Health Organization and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (also available on the WHO website. http://www.searo.who.int/EN/Section864/Section1007/Section1012.htm

Health Education reports of the phase1, phase2 and phase 3 of the project entitled “Establishment of Sentinel Surveillance System for CVD in Indian the Industrial Populations.

Developed a  fifteen minute film on prevention of chronic diseases through lifelstyle changes in 4 different languages.

Developed ten 30-50 second promos/ current spots, using scientific techniques of behaviour change and social marketing skill. These have been translated/ dubbed into seven Indian languages. They are in the process of being used for national telecasting.
   
7. Organized Health Exhibition in Delhi for Health Secretaries of SEARO Countries and Members of Parliament of India, February 2005 and February 2006.
   
8. Developed a film show titled Active Families are Healthy Families!
   
9. Developed several Health Education Booklets and Handouts (available at the WHO- SEARO website. http://www.searo.who.int/EN/Section864/Section1007/Section1012.htm). The booklets include the following:
