IC
Health in association with the World Heart Federation and the Global
Forum for Health Research is currently planning a census of ongoing
cardiovascular and diabetes research activity and related investment
in low- and middle-income countries. It aims to collect information
from global databases, research networks and international
organizations on ongoing and recently completed research in
prioritised areas relevant to cardiovascular disease prevention and
control in low- and middle-income countries. IC Health will conduct
case studies in six selected countries. In each country a situational
analysis will be performed to assess resource flows, the types of
research conducted and funded, the nature of research products
generated and the potential impact on national programmes for
cardiovascular disease prevention and control. Results from this
project will provide a comprehensive roadmap of research in developing
countries relevant to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular
disease and diabetes. This information will be available as a
monograph and through an IC Health managed website, which will also
provide periodic updates of the available data. This project is
supported by the World Heart Federation, Global Forum for Health
Research, World Health Organization and INCLEN. |
