As
indicated above, the Research Advisory Committee will review progress
on all programs and projects. This includes both process evaluation
and assessment of progress towards achievement of stated objectives.
Regular written reports will be required from all programs and
projects, and site reviews will be performed wherever required.
In addition, the Board will perform regular reviews to evaluate
whether IC Health is achieving its overall mission. Specific
operational and financial milestones will be set, and an external
review committee will review the Initiative at regular intervals. In
addition to evaluating the internal operations of IC Health, these
reviews will evaluate whether the activities of the Initiative have
led to increased investment in cardiovascular and diabetes research in
low- and middle-income countries, increased numbers of trained
researchers, and strengthened research institutions. It will also
assess whether the activities of IC Health have led to collateral
improvements such as improvements in national or regional policies and
programs focused on cardiovascular disease and diabetes control.
The financial activities of the Initiative will be reviewed regularly
by the Board, with the guidance of the Honorary Treasurer who holds
professional accounting qualifications. The accounts of IC Health will
be audited annually by approved external auditors.
