Inter - Heart This study is investigating whether traditional and novel risk factors
vary in their associations with the risk of first non-fatal myocardial
infarction among individuals from different regions of the world, and
among individuals of different ethnic groups. The study has already
recruited 28,000 individuals (half cases and half controls) from 260
sites in 52 countries. All major ethnic groups are represented. This
study is supported by the Canadian Institute of Health Research, the
Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the International Clinical
Epidemiology Network, a number of pharmaceutical
companies, as well as the World Health Organization and the World
Heart Federation. Blood samples from all participants have been frozen
in multiple aliquots in liquid nitrogen in core laboratories. IC
health is seeking expressions of interest from sponsors that might be
interesting supporting analyses of lipoproteins and haemoglobin A1c in
blood samples collected in this study.
