With the support of IC Health, two major projects have been initiated to assess the effects of a variety of modifiable risk factors, including diabetes, on the risks of common cardiovascular diseases in populations from low- and middle-income countries. These studies will provide new evidence of relevance to decisions about priority directions for programs for the control of cardiovascular disease in low- and middle-income countries. These projects are:
