This project was established to assess the effects of diabetes, blood
pressure, blood lipids, obesity, smoking, education and socioeconomic
status on the risks of stroke, myocardial infarction and several other
types of cardiovascular disease among about 650,000 individuals from
populations in East Asia, South East Asia and Australasia. The first
phase of this project has been supported by grants from the National
Health & Medical Research Council of Australia, the Health Research
Council of New Zealand, the National Institutes of Health and Pfizer
Inc. Initial reports from this project are available from the
Secretariat. IC Health is seeking to identify sponsors interested in
supporting a further phase of data collection and analysis.
